Shantideva Day of Mindfulness, Hosted by Wake Up SF

Wake Up SF invites you to a Day of Mindfulness at Shantideva — bringing together the diversity of Northern California sanghas together for a chance to practice mindfulness as one sangha.
In the Plum Village lineage of applied Buddhism we have four pillars of daily life: study, practice, work, and play. This Day of Mindfulness will be centered on the fourth pillar – Play. A chance to cultivate light and joy as a community while we step closer towards the winter solstice.
Date: Saturday, December 13, 2025
Location: Thich Tu Luc’s Shantideva Monastery —
30345 Palomares Rd, Castro Valley, CA 94552
(Approx. 1-hour drive from Berkeley, SF, or San Jose)
Things to bring:
- Something vegetarian to eat for lunch
- Water
- Layers, sunscreen, hat
- A friend of two
- Anything else you’d like to share that inspires play (a musical instrument, calligraphy pens and paper, a book by Thay or a sutta, some snacks, etc)

- 9:30 Arrive and settle in
- 10:00 Welcoming remarks
- 10:20 Seated Meditation
- 10:50 Dharma Talk
- 11:15 Break
- 11:30 Mindful Movement/Play
- 12:30 Lunch
- 1:30 Dharma Sharing Circles
- 2:30 Closing Circle

There is very limited space for parking, so please plan to carpool (the sign in sheet is designed to help self-organize carpooling). This day is offered free of charge. Donations for the teaching and to support Shantideva are welcome.
